'Southern Fried White Trash' Book Signing, Reading in Norcross

Author Carole Townsend will be at the Norcross Welcome Center this Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Author Carole Townsend of "Southern Fried White Trash" will be doing a book signing and reading this Tuesday at the .

As a collection of short stories, "Southern Fried White Trash" is described as a "funny-look at bizarre family behavior through a Southerner's eyes," according to a statement from the welcome center. Her style and humor has been compared to the works of Lewis Grizzard and Erma Bombeck.

"Hilarious and amusing written in an easy to read style that will bring laughter again and again to readers," said Eve Thamincioglu of MSNBC, according to Amazon.com. "Townsend shows a wit that readers will understand and appreciate."

Townsend is a Georgia native and a columnist for the Gwinnett Daily Post with her blog, Food for Thought.

The book signing and reading will take place June 12 at 6 p.m. at the Norcross Welcome Center, located at 189 Lawrenceville St.

Former journalist, folksinger and attorney Jeffrey Deaver will also have a book signing and reading of "XO" on Thursday at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center.
