Spend Cinco de Mayo On The Run

Join in the race to find a cure for cancer on Saturday in a special fund-raising foot race in Peachtree Corners.

If you ask your neighbors or co-workers whether or not they have lost a friend or loved one to cancer, the likely answer would be, "yes."

It's a disease that kills some 1,500 Americans every day. Jay Lowe, a Peachtree Corners man, knows first hand the agony of watching a loved one fight the deadly disease.

At 34, Lowe's sister Amy Piazza, is on her third round trying to ward off cancer - this time it's bone cancer which has metastasized. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the tender age of 25, underwent a double mastocomy and her cancer went into remission. But the disease returned four years later, this time as bone cancer. Once again, the cancer went into remission. But it's back for a third time.

"She's a survivor and a fighter," said Lowe of his sister Amy.

Lowe decided to do something for his sister - he organized Code Pink Run, a 10k, 5k and fun walk/run scheduled for Saturday, May 5, to help raise funds for the entry fee for a team to support Amy in the upcoming Susan G. Koman 3-Day.
