Carmen Santos of Norcross was getting ready to celebrate the New Year by going to the Peach Drop in downtown Atlanta, but her son had a different idea. So she changed her travel plans from Underground Atlanta to North Fulton Hospital.
Joshua Santos, a 5-pound, 5-ounce baby boy, was born at 1:36 a.m. on Jan. 1, the first baby of the New Year born at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell.
The Norcross mom was very excited and happy about her new baby. But she also was very surprised, because the baby was not supposed to come until Feb. 5. Joshua was a "preemie" baby.
The single mom chose Norcross as her family's home because she likes the dynamics of the city.
Joshua Santos has three siblings. Two of them live in their native Guatemala with her family. Her oldest daughter is 18 and has a degree in hospitality. She's studying forensics now. Her oldest son is 17 and he's already studying engineering. Their 4-year-old sister lives with mom in Norcross. She attends pre-K.
She hopes Joshua will be as smart as his siblings.
