Influential People of Norcross: Chuck Paul

Each week, Patch sits down with someone in Norcross who possesses all the traits of a great leader.

Chuck Paul's 20-plus years living in the Norcross and Peachtree Corners areas haven't gone unnoticed in the community.

Whether it's volunteering at Stripling Elementary or giving his two cents at the Progessive Development Committee meetings every week at 45 South Cafe, Paul has no doubt given back to the area.

Patch spoke with Paul to learn more about him, his business and the different things he does around Norcross.

What is your profession?

My business partner, David McAleese, and I founded a nationwide Mystery Shopping company (A Closer Look Inc.) in 1994. We are located at 460 S. Peachtree St. near downtown Norcross. We have become very involved in everything Norcross!

What Norcross projects/organizations are/were you involved in?

I was president of the Norcross Business Association in 2008-2009 and Chairman of the Norcross Progressive Development Committee from 2009 to 2011. I will soon be a founding boardmember of the new Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce that will focus on Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners.

[Also], this year will be my fifth year volunteering with Everybody Wins Atlanta where I read to a student weekly at Stripling Elementary--a VERY rewarding experience.

Name something notable that you're especially proud of this year.

I had the opportunity to be a member of the 2010-2011 Senior Leadership Gwinnett class. The experience, education and camaraderie were awesome. I’d recommend it to anyone old enough to get involved!

What is a saying/quote that you live by?

I love to make things a “Win/Win” for all involved.

What's something that many people don't know about you?

I used to be a big runner. I ran many 10Ks, two half marathons and the Dallas Marathon over 30 years ago.

How long have you lived in Norcross?

I moved to Peachtree Corners in 1989 and lived there for over 20 years.  In April of 2011 I bought a home two blocks from downtown Norcross and LOVE living here.

What are some of your hobbies?

I enjoy going to all kinds of restaurants to evaluate the experience. Swimming is my ‘post’ running exercise and I look forward to any sort of travel.
