Back 2 School Blessing

Mountain West Church is giving back to local school teachers and families by holding their annual Back 2 School Blessing Celebration on Sunday, August 12, 2012.

The Celebration has three goals: to send children back to school with a bang, to bless area teachers with the supplies they need to teach well, and to empower parents to get actively involved in raising their children academically and spiritually. 

The children’s party will include special performances, prayer over the kids’ school year, games, and a free T-shirts for each child.  There will be something fun for all kids preschool-5th grade.  (Nursery care is available at each service.  Middle school ministry will be available at the 10:30 service only.)

This year, church representatives sought out eight DeKalb County teachers to “bless” with the supplies they needed to teach their students with excellence.  Teachers were asked to submit a “dream list” of things they felt would take their teaching to the next level.  Teachers will be blessed with items such as computers, iPads, notebooks, classroom furniture, etc.

An additional focus has been placed this year on empowering parents to actively participate in the academic and spiritual raising of their child.  There is a free gift for each family that attends.
