Norcross Art Fest is Three Weeks Away and the Chairs are Getting Ready!

Norcross...It's chair, no it's a table, no it's birdhouse! You will just have to stop by the Chairs for Charity Booth at Norcross Art Fest to see all the uniquely decorated items!

Creativity is in full swing and our art teachers and students are getting ready for the Annual Chairs for Charity Silent Auction at Norcross Art Fest!

After a wonderful welcome back meet and greet at The Nest a few weeks ago, art teachers in the Norcross area schools received wooden chairs, rockers, tables, and a variety of other items to be uniquely decorated by the students for the upcoming annual Norcross Art Fest to be held on October 6th and 7th.

Is that a decorated bird house?  Joining the one-of-kind items this year at the Chairs for Charity Booth are decorated bird houses.  These masterpieces are being created by the students of Meadowcreek High School under the direction of Chris Hellyer, Fine Arts Department Chair.  Meadowcreek HS is joining the Chairs for Charity group for the first time this year and they are off to a great
start.  The Chairs for Charity committee plans on visiting the schools to capture the students in action and will be sending out teasers of the artwork so get those checkbooks ready!

Every year the Norcross Art Fest organizers, Frances Schube and Cindy Flynn encourages the addition of unique items be part of the line-up.  It always amazes me that the students enjoy expressing themselves all in the name of whimsical art and some of these items should be on exhibit at the High Museum or other art venues around the city.

As always, in your travels, if you see any of old wooden chairs or items that can be painted, just remember the students in the Norcross Cluster and the amazing talent that we showcase at every opportunity.  Think about donating these items to the Chairs for Charity Program or sponsoring a school please contact me apbeckles@yahoo.com
