G.R.E.A.T Days Ahead for Norcross' Elementary school students!

Nearly 350 elementary students stand to succeed from the GREAT Program!

Officer Jennifer Gardner of the Norcross Police Department completed teaching her instructional GREAT Program for the 2011-2012 school year in our local elementary schools.

Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) is a gang and violence prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curricula.  The program is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership for children in the years immediately before the prime ages for introduction into gangs and delinquent behavior.

Officer Gardner taught the program to 5th graders at Norcross and Stripling Elementary schools over the course of 7 weeks.  Each student was given a workbook that ties back to the weekly curriculum.  Upon graduation from the program each student was given a Certificate of Completion and a celebration for completing the GREAT Program.  Pictured are Officer Mark Dollar and Officer Jennifer Gardner at one of the events.
