City of Norcross to Celebrate First National Night Out

The City of Norcross and the Norcross Police Department to join cities nationwide for 'America's Night Out Against Crime'

The City of Norcross will be participating in its 1st National Night Out, on August 7th, 2012.  Several residents have formed a committee under the guidance of the NPD (Norcross Police Department) Foundation and planning is underway for the festivities.

National Night Out is designed to (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The NPD Foundation will be hosting a community block party in Thrasher Park on Tuesday evening, August 7th from 4 to 9 pm, with demonstrations from the police, contests, youth activities, and anticrime programs for both children and adults.  Committee members involved in the planning are City Councilman Andrew Hixson, Connie Weathers of Sustainable Norcross, Ada Poggio, Betty Feleke and Louise Williams of Creekside Park; Erica Eby, Wende and Sandy Lynn, Vicky and Hugh Cooper of Lum Howell; Greg McFarland of Sheffield Forrest, Anne Barker of Hopewell/Brundage Park and Nanette Arceneaux of Historic Norcross.
