6th Grader Trent Schweizer Strikes a Business Deal for Notre Dame Academy

The 2013-14 school year began Wednesday, August 14th for Notre Dame Academy and a 5th grade classroom has new technology thanks to one enterprising student. Rising 6th grader Trent Schweizer is cultivating his business contacts much earlier than most.  Trent noticed that the projector in his old 5th grade classroom was failing and resolved to find a way to replace it.  During a business dinner he spoke with Patrick Malone of NEC Display Solutions, a company that specializes in visual display technology.  They discussed the different features of certain projectors, including brightness and lumens.  Trent’s persistence paid off and Mr. Malone generously donated a NEC projector to Trent’s classroom.  He was impressed with Trent’s professionalism and noted that he believed Trent’s future “may be very bright in the business world”.

Trent developed his business and presentation skills at Notre Dame Academy through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.  The IB Primary Years Programme encourages inquisitiveness, independence and international-mindedness.  This program culminates with an Exhibition in which students must demonstrate and present what they’ve learned throughout the year in a concise and clear manner.
