Readers' Choice Winner: Bruster's

The location on Indian Trail beat the other frozen treat spots for Best Ice Cream in Norcross.

This week's Readers' Choice was Best Ice Cream, and the votes have been casted. The winner is: Bruster's on Indian Trail Road. While it's a nationwide chain, Bruster's is an old-fashioned ice cream shop that also offers sundaes, smoothies, frozen yogurt, sherbert, ice cream cake and more. Its outdoor seating is oftentimes a spot to see families and teenagers relaxing while devouring their frozen treats before they melt. At the particular 1590 Indian Trail Rd. location, every Thursday is banana day, where customers can get 50 percent off a banana split if they bring their own bananas. Also available starting this month is the return of Bruster's Peach and Black Raspberry flavors and Strawberry Shortcakes. The Indian Trail frozen eatery lead…

Firenze Offers a Piece of Italy

Each week, Norcross Patch profiles a different business in the area. This week, we talk to Fred Azadi, owner of Firenze Ristorante.

A bit of authentic Italy has come to Peachtree Corners at Firenze Ristorante. The restaurant, which opened in November on Peachtree Parkway, serves Italian dishes such as Veal Chop alla Parmigiana, a pan fried veal chop in pomodoro sauce with three kinds of cheese; and Agnolotti al Tartufo, a dish of veal, beef, pork, ravioli, truffle shavings, caramelized Vidalia onion and butter parmigiano. You won’t find chicken parmesan on this menu, as you will in other Italian-American restaurants, says owner Fred Azadi. That’s because the executive chef, Andrea Montobbio, is a native of Capriata d'Orba, in northern Italy. He received his culinary training at the Marco Polo School in Genova and the Guglielmo Marconi School in Camogli. He puts an …

Painting in a New Direction

Chalk It Up Norcross inside The Nest offers a different type of paint that's user-centered and can stick to anything.

If you hate to paint or you're a wallpaper person, Chalk It Up Norcross just may change your opinion. Chalk It Up Norcross, located in The Nest in downtown, offers a different kind of paint than what most are used to. Chalk paint, as opposed to the usual latex paint, is a heavily pigmented acrylic paint that can stick to virtually anything: glass, furniture, wood, floors, ceramics, anything. It can give an old antique look to something you've been wanting to restore but just didn't have the time to, and it can add a small silver accent to kitchen moldings. It can even give a pottery barn finish to a picture frame that's been flaking for years. What's more amazing about chalk paint is the varieties of things you can do with it while only …
