Looks like some of you got a lot more rain than I did! I finished with a total of 5.20" for the entire event, with 3.92" falling here yesterday. Here's the CoCoRaHS precip map http://www.daculaweather.com/4_cocorahs_precip_map.php

I also recorded my highest rainfall rate for the year yesterday at 0.343" per minute as well as the highest daily total of 3.92". My yearly records can be found here:

Seriously - look at the photos I uploaded and tell me if that is even possible. It was a torrential rain, but that puts me over 10 inches for a 24-hour period. That can't be right.

Doesn't sound correct. Must be operator error... ;-)

That link is broken for me, NGW.

We live in Statham. I don't know what the rain total was, but I know it rained pretty much constantly and at times very heavily. It was still raining heavily when I left for work this morning. The chickens were grumpy and everything in the house is damp! But I'm glad for the rain.

Sorry! It should have been lower case, my fingers like to press other keys to amuse me.

It was great to finally fall in that RED streak this time!! We totaled just over 6" in our rain gauge.

Kristi - I think someone snuck onto your property and poured some water in your gauge, either that or it’s the spit coming from all that ranting and vitriol in the Boy Scout blog?!

I swear I don't have that thing sitting under a downspout. We had some really hard rain yesterday. That said, Mitch you may be right - that Boy Scout blog is out of control!

Well, after further review...I just found out that my wife dumped a little less than 4" yesterday afternoon before I got home from work. That would also put us close to 10". It sure was a torrential downpour, but did we really get that much?

I think it is possible. I know I got about 2 inches in under an hour at one point yesterday, so there were times when it was coming down really hard. Steve's rainfall total maps don't show it, but I have no idea how that gauge could be faulty. Also, since it is right outside my office window, I know it was untouched during the day.

That's a big dump! :-)
If you look at the CoCoRaHS amounts, they are not that much. But I suppose it's possible.

Lake Lanier is up 1.33 feet in the last 24 hours. The Chattahoochee River at Cornelia went from about 200 cubic feet per second to more than 10,000 cubic feet per second after the rainfall.
