Update: Tornado Warning Ends; Severe Storms Still Possible for Norcross
Colder temperatures will replace stormy weather once a strong cold front moves through the area. A tornado watch still remains in effect until 10 p.m.

The Tornado Warning for parts of Gwinnett has been called off, but severe storms are still possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for parts of northern metro Atlanta, including northwest Gwinnett County.
The warning is until 6:45 p.m.
Norcross, Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake are listed in the warning.

HEAVY RAINFALL MAY OBSCURE THIS TORNADO. TAKE COVER NOW! IF YOU WAIT TO SEE OR HEAR IT COMING...IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. AT 557 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMA CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO NEAR TAYLORSVILLE... MOVING EAST AT 60 MPH. THERE IS ANOTHER AREA OF ROTATION CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO SOUTHEAST OF BRASWELL.
All that lovely spring weather over the weekend in Gwinnett are already a memory. Forecasts are for hazardous weather for the area Monday evening (March 18).
The National Weather Service says in a statement that storms will move into the Gwinnett area in the afternoon.
The alert says "strong to severe storms with large hail" are possible, with the "risk of an isolated tornado." New rainfall amounts from one-fourth to one-half an an inch are possible.
The NWS alert says in part:
STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE TODAY INTO TONIGHT ...
AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS ALABAMA AND INTO WEST GEORGIA LATER THIS MORNING. STORMS WILL INTENSIFY THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON AND SPREAD OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA WITH THE THREAT FOR STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS WITH LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND A RISK OF AN ISOLATED TORNADO.
