The Norcross Weekend Planner

Memorial Day weekend has some big events happening around town.

Staying in town this Memorial Day weekend? You're in luck, because there's some big things happening around Norcross.

This Saturday is the annual downtown Strawberry Stroll, complete with a 5k, tons of kids activities, and of course, lots and lots of strawberry delights. The 5k starts at 10 a.m. at Thrasher Park (make sure to sign up here or at the race) and the festivities start afterward. Get ready for a pie-eating contest, a bake-off contest, bounce houses, face painting and more in between all those strawberry craziness. To top it off, the funds from the activities and the run will benefit kids in need through Kingdom Kids.

To end the three-day weekend, head back to Thrasher Park for the Summer Concert Series kick off. The city of Norcross is honoring the country's veterans and soldiers through a tribute starting at 7 p.m., and it'll be followed by the rock and R&B-style band The American Flyers at 7:30 p.m.

In between all the major events, cool off with some smaller standard things at Iron Horse Tavern and 45 South Cafe. At 45 South, check out tunes from Tom Elliot at 7 p.m. Friday and The Circle of Friends on Saturday at the same time. Iron Horse is having its music from the three-piece classic rock band Bad House Tears from 9:30 p.m. to mightnight and will have its usual Saturday karaoke from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
