The Norcross Weekend Planner

Birds, music and the mayor.

The lineup for the July 13-July 15 weekend seems to be a relaxing one for Norcross.

At 45 South Cafe, swing in Friday around 7 p.m. to listen to some country and blues from songwriter Jeff Silver. At the same time Saturday, Circle of Fifths (also known as the duo Maria and Tony) will be performing acoustic originals and covers from the rock, blues and country genres.

Live music isn't the only thing happening at the cafe this weekend, though. Mayor Bucky Johnson will have a Q&A session on the Transportation Investment Act from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, so grab a cup of coffee and chat with him and others about the hot-button referendum.

Iron Horse Tavern will have its usual music and activities this weekend. Tackle some trivia questions Thursday at 8 p.m., Turnstile will be playing Friday around 9 p.m., and karaoke will follow Saturday at 10 p.m.

Want something a bit more extravagant outside of downtown? Canaries, finches and more will roam the air at the Atlanta Exotic Bird Fair in Norcross. Being held at the North Atlanta Trade Center, the fair will have bird experts and breeders, and attendees can purchase birds and equipment.

The Atlanta Exotic Bird Fair runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 for those older than 13 and free for anything 12 and under. For more information, call 770-279-9899 or visit northatlantatradecenter.com.
