The Norcross Weekend Planner
There's plenty to do this weekend before next week's Independence Day celebration.
Norcross' annual Independence Day celebration is next week, but before all the festivities, the weekend will be here.
This weekend is the last days for Vargas and Harbin's latest exhibit, "Two Cameras Two Countries," a series of photographs by Kelli Griffin and Diane Watson that give viewers a insightful look into Cambodia and Antigua, Guatemala. The gallery is open Friday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and be sure to check come back in July for Vargas and Harbins' anniversary party.
Downtown Norcross has a whole line of activities set up for Saturday, so be sure to clear your schedules. Around 7 p.m., "Mirror, Mirror" will be showing in Lillian Webb Park for free, so be sure to grab the family and a picnic basket to enjoy the 2012 comedy based on "Snow White."
If the Brothers Grimm isn't your thing, make sure to hit up either The Nest or Lionheart Theatre. The Norcross arts incubator will be having Summerfest, an open house that will showcase the different workshops offered there. Food, drinks and live music also will be available to guests. A $25 entry donation is being asked for adults, but kids and students are able to get in for free. The event is from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. For more details, check out nest-nac.com.
Starting at 8 p.m. the same day, The OTC Comedy Troupe will invade Lionheart Theatre with its fantastic improv and award-winning comedy. Tickets are $10 at the door and online at lionhearttheatre.org.
Keep the picnic blanket and chairs and head to Thrasher Park on Sunday for a free outdoor jazz concert from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. An 11-soldier band known as The Jazz Guardians will be performing tributes to old and newer bands such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller.

The Peachtree Corners Festival wasn't included because the weekend planner is dedicated just to Norcross. Patch actually will have a booth at the festival, though, so be sure to look out for us! Here's more information if you need it: peachtreecornersfestival.org/
