Dogs, live music and more line up the weekend events in Norcross.

On Friday, July 20, Lionheart Theatre is debuting its summer production of Disney's "The Jungle Book," starring and produced by students all over Gwinnett. Proceeds will benefit the Norcross Cooperative Ministry. Showtimes and ticket information for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are available here.

School isn't exactly in session just yet, but Norcross High is opening its doors this weekend for the whole family. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, the school's football team will be showing off their hard work this summer in the Annual Family Fun Fest. Watch players perform the Bench Press, 40-yard dash and Power Clean, while festival-goers can enjoy family events such as the dunk tank, moonwalks, bounce houses and more. Admission is free, but grab some treats off the concession stand.

Also on Friday, Norcross' Summer Concert Series continues with Satisfaction, a Rolling Stones tribute band. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. in downtown's Thrasher Park.

Music also will be playing at downtown eateries, too. At 9:30 p.m. Friday, check out Bad House Tears at Iron Horse Tavern (which will have its usual round of karaoke at 10 p.m. Saturday, too). 45 South Cafe will have Americana-folk musician Bob Bakert perform alongside husband-and-wife acoustic duo Tortoise and Hair at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Alejandro's spanish-influenced tunes will fill the cafe at the same time Saturday.

In nearby Peachtree Corners, hang out in Pinckneyville Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, for Gwinnett Bark for Life, a fundraiser and awareness event for the American Cancer Society. Grab your favorite pup and start your day off with a walk, followed by dog-centered demonstrations, games and contests. Register in advance at the event page for $20, or wait until the day of the event for $25.
