Support NHS Relay For Life at Norcross Basketball Pink Out Event
The event, which will take place during the girls and boys varsity games against Peachtree Ridge High, is this Friday, Feb. 1.
Norcross High School's Relay For Life is teaming up with Blue Devils basketball this Friday for the Norcross Basketball Pink Out.
Taking place during the girls and boys varsity games against Peachtree Ridge High, the Norcross Basketball Pink Out is a fundraising effort for Norcross Relay for Life, which is comprised of students raising funds for the American Cancer Society.
"This is an event where we have an opportunity to welcome and honor some of
our community's survivors," said NHS Relay Co-Chair Doug Maloney, adding that cancer survivors also have been invited to the game for free. "This invitation is part of our effort to promote community awareness and also expand our outreach and celebration of survivors."
During the game, Relay for Life will be selling Pink Out t-shirts and bracelets and possibly baked goods, with proceeds going directly to the Relay cause. Students will be collecting donations in the stands with donation buckets, too.
Not able to make it to the game? The shirts and bracelets also will be on sale during school hours Thursday and Friday.
The NHS athletic departments have been very supportive of the Pink Out events for Relay for Life, Maloney said. In addition to the boys and girls teams pledging donations to Relay to help cover the cost of the events, the basketball teams will be sporting Pink Out shirts during their pre-game warm-ups to show support and promote awareness.
Maloney said Norcross Relay is looking to do more Pink Out events with spring sports, too.
The Norcross Basketball Pink Out event is this Friday, Feb. 1, at Norcross High School. The girls varsity team starts at 6 p.m. and the boys start at 7:30 p.m.
