Public Hearing on Family Dollar Tonight
The Norcross City Council will seek input of rezoning request to build the discount store on Beaver Ruin Road.
Public hearings on five items — including a rezoning request for the construction of a Family Dollar store on Beaver Ruin Road — dominate the agenda for tonight’s Norcross City Council meeting.
The council will be meet beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a work session and its regular monthly meeting following at 7.
Family Dollar representatives applied for a zoning change on approximately an acre of land at 2570 Beaver Ruin Road to build a store. The parcel is currently zoned O-I (Office Industrial) and would need to be zoned C-2 for general business use.
Last month, the Norcross Planning and Zoning Committee recommended denial of the request.
Public hearings also scheduled:
-Lord’s Community Church wants to expand property at 100 Pinnacle Way (Pinnacle Business Park) by adding a private school.
-The annexation of properties at 5955 Jimmy Carter Blvd., 3066 Reps Miller Road, and 5390 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., all considered “unincorporated islands” surrounded by city land.
Among the other agenda items are restructuring the Norcross Development Authority; vote on more than $123,000 in parks maintenance contracts; and establish qualifying fees for the 2012 elections ($207 for mayor; $162 for council seats).
