Norcross Recycling Day is This Saturday

Get ready to shred, dump and donate those unwanted materials for the city's Neighborhood Clean-up and Recycling Day.

Get ready to shred, dump and donate those unwanted materials in your home: Neighborhood Clean-up and Recycling Day is hitting Norcross this Saturday, April 7.

Recycling day, which occurs twice a year, will start as early as 8 a.m. at various locations around town with volunteers in tow.

This time around the event includes a whole laundry list of items, so there's no excuse why you shouldn't get rid of junk lying around the house.

Here are some of the major ones, but check out the city's code enforcement page for specifics on what will/won't be accepted:

  • Old cell phones, computers, keyboards and televisions will be accepted at the electronics recycling center at the Norcross Community Center at 10 College Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Basic clean up on anything that's not a hazardous material will be open to city of Norcross residents at the Public Works Barn, located at 345 Lively near Buford Highway from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • New this year is the city's ReCycle Bicycle collection, in conjunction with Sustainable Norcross. Patrons can swing by 168 Wingo Street to donate bikes, bike parts and accessories. Items will be used to refurbish bikes into usable transportation for students, according to a statement from the city.
  • American Security Shredding wil have an on-site shred truck at city hall and will be broadcasting the tearing excitement on a video monitor. The shredding will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the truck is full.
  • Donate canned and non-perishables for the local food bank at the Norcross Cooperative Ministry for the 2012 "CAN" Do for Hunger Campaign.

For more information on Neighborhood Clean-up and Recycling Day, visit the city's code enforcement page. Contact sustainablenorcross@gmail.com for more information and volunteer opportunities with the ReCycle Bicycle program.

Absolutely can't make it this Saturday? Don't worry; LAN Systems in Norcross is also holding a electronics recycling day April 20. For the full details, check out the event here.

Thanks Sarah! We're gearing up for a pretty Spring and there's lots to report.
One idea might be to check out Norcross High School since its a shining star for the 'city of Norcross' so that the community sees who they are and what they have to offer. Its a great 'city of Norcross' High School' and one of the best in Gwinnett County, and an AMERICAN MADE HIGH SCHOOL > > >
Thanks.
