Seventh Arrest Made in Death of Nick Jackson

Darrez Lamontz Chandler was arrested yesterday for one count of murder and one count of burglary.

Another suspect has been arrested for the murder of Nick Jackson, the Norcross High freshman who was fatally shot in his home in February, according to a press release from Norcross Police Capt. Brian Harr.

After further investigation, invterviews and leads, Darrez Lamontz Chandler of Atlanta has been identified as an active participant of the incident.

He was arrested Wednesday, April 18, and is the seventh person to be charged for the murder of Jackson.

He is incarcerated in Gwinnett County Detention Center and has been charged with one count of murder and one count of burglary.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, investigators do not believe Chandler was present when Jackson was shot. Additionally, the motive for the alleged home invasion is still unclear.

At 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2, Jackson was allegedly shot in his home on the 300 block of Autry Street in Norcross. Police caught up with a van that matched a description given by Jackson's sister, and it led to the arrests of six suspects. Weapons, ski masks, bandanas and an undisclosed amount of cash also were found in the van.

Last month, a tree was planted in honor of Jackson at Rossie Brundage Park. Around a hundred people attended the tree dedication.
