Norcross PD Arrest Man in Connection to Flint Hill Burglary

Jose Cortez, 29, has been arrested in connection with taking a van from Flint Hill, the downtown Norcross event facility, in addition to other thefts.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Norcross Police have arrested a man in connection with a series of thefts and burglaries, including the taking of a van from Flint Hill.

Jose Cortez, 29, has been arrested on charges of burglary, possession of methamphetamine, and theft by receiving a motor vehicle.

According to a news release from Norcross Police spokesman Capt. Brian Harr, a Norcross officer was patrolling a business complex in an unmarked car around 11:16 p.m. last Wednesday, Jan. 16, when he saw a white van near a closed business. Four individuals, Cortez included, exited the van and entered a nearby motor home.

Further investigation revealed that the van had been recently stolen from Flint Hill, an event facility off South Peachtree Street in downtown Norcross. Cortez also did not have permission to enter the motor home.

Officers located additional stolen items which linked Cortez to a series of recent thefts in the city. Two bags of methamphetamine were found on Cortez, too.

Cortez is currently in Gwinnett County Jail. Norcross Police will continue its investigation as additional suspects are being identified in the series of recent thefts.
