New GAC Football Coach Announced

After news broke of Football Coach Tim Cokely leaving Greater Atlanta Christian, the school has announced Tim Hardy as his replacement.

According to a press release, Hardy had been coaching at Mountain View High School in Gwinnett County since 2009. During the past three seasons, Hardy is said to have built a solid foundation for the school's football program.

"Tim Hardy's mission and Greater Atlanta Christian School's mission are perfectly aligned," said GAC President David Fincher, according to a press release. "The Spartan football program, plus the character and faith of GAC young men, will thrive in the years ahead."

Before Mountain View, Hardy spent 10 seasons at Wheaton College, a four-year Christian liberal arts school. Hardy proved himself as a gifted young coach, having led the team to five consecutive conference championships, five NCAA Division III playoff appearances, and one NCAA semi-final finish. During the last three seasons at Wheaton, Hardy served as offensive coordinator.

"While his ability to teach young men the game of football is impressive, Tim [Hardy's] greatest attribute is his deep and vibrant faith in Jesus," said Senior High Principal Scott Harsh, according to the release. "Tim is a gifted leader who will undoubtedly influence our students to more fully seek the Kingdom of God."

He also graduated from Wheaton himself and played as a quarterback from 1995 to 1998.

Cokely, GAC's current coach, is headed to Jackson County, Fla., to coach at Marianna High School.
