A young Duluth man was killed in a single-car accident during the rainy Christmas Day afternoon on Simpson Circle near its intersection with Centennial Trail in unincorprated Norcross.

Gwinnett Police identified the driver of the white Chevrolet Tahoe as Nenad Lunic, 23, of Duluth. The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. Dec. 25 about 200 feet from Simpson Circle’s intersection with Centennial Trail.

Lunic was traveling south on Simpson Circle when his vehicle left his side of the roadway, struck a landscaping wall and went airborne, according to police. His vehicle then struck a tree on the driver’s side of the door and roof. Lunic was reported deceased at the scene when police arrived.

The wet road and driving too fast for conditions were cited as contributing factors to the accident, police said.
