Leadership Shift at Norcross, GIVE, Meadowcreek ES
New principals were named for five Gwinnett schools yesterday.
Gwinnett County Schools announced new principals for many schools yesterday—and three Norcross area schools are affected.
The Board of Education approved William Bishop as the principal at Norcross High School and Juanita Daunoy as the new principal of Meadowcreek Elementary. Maryanne Grimes, the current principal at GIVE Center West, will take the helm at Central Gwinnett High School.
Jonathan Patterson, the current Norcross principal, will be an area superintendent, so the search for a replacement has been going on since December.
Bishop’s background is in music, computer science and education. He began his teaching career as a music instructor and teaching assistant at Georgia Tech. He was a band director at a high school in Cobb County from 2000 to 2002, then a visiting professor and band director at Georgia Tech from 2002 to 2005.
Bishop is no stranger to Norcross High. He taught math at the local high school from 2005 to 2007, before becoming the assistant principal at Duluth High School.
Grimes, who has a background in special education, has been at the GIVE Center since 2003, first as assistant principal, then as principal. Grimes is moving to Central Gwinnett because the current principal is becoming the area superintendent.
The new leadership for the school will be announced “in coming months,” according to Jorge Quintana, spokesperson for Gwinnett County Public Schools. Grimes will stay in her current position until a replacement is found.
The new principal of Meadowcreek Elementary, Duanoy, has been in elementary and middle school education since 1999, most recently at Jenkins Elementary. She is working on a doctoral degree in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
The current principal, Kelli McCain, will become an area superintendent as well.
