We are starting a new feature at Norcross Patch. Each week, we will profile a different Norcross business. To kick off the series, we are taking a look at Good Things Home and Garden, located in Historic Norcross. Patch talks to owner Randy Hamilton.
How/when did you start Good Things?
Good Things Home and Garden opened in June 2005, as an offspring of Designs In Flowers. We separated the gift shop from the fresh flowers business and Good Things was born. In addition to keeping the great gift line, we added our garden line.
What is rewarding about running your store?
Getting to know new customers and getting to visit with our returning customers is really rewarding. I love displaying the merchandise and giving the shop a new fresh look. Particularly, I enjoy holiday displays and giving the customers insight in how to best utilize the merchandise.
What makes Good Things unique?
Customers have said Good Things is like their ever-blooming garden. It is always changing and blooming with new merchandise every season. We always are looking for unique merchandise not found in other stores.
How have you grown over the years?
Trying to put the customer first has always been the number one priority for Good Things. This, in turn, gives us positive word-of-mouth approval, which helps create a great customer base for repeat business and growth.
What do you like about being located in Norcross?
We have enjoyed being in the Norcross/Peachtree Corners area for over 30 years. But now, being in Historic Norcross gives our shop a special hometown feeling that we’ve always wanted to have. We love being here with the other great shops and restaurants.
Good Things is located at 73 S. Peachtree St. in downtown Norcross and can be contacted at 770-263-8885.
