Gang Symbols, Vandalism Found at Adelaide Park

Police say gang-related vandalism occurred at the apartment complex late last month, in addition to other damage earlier this year.

Several acts of vandalism were reported at Adelade Park Apartments, and Norcross Police believe some of it may be gang-related.

According to the police report, metallic gray spraypaint had been plastered all over the walls of an apartment on the 2445 Beaver Ruin Road complex. After meeting with the apartment's leasing agent, Norcross Police observed phrases such as "UGC CRIPZ," "JAY ROC" and "WEST SIDE TRI66A LOC" written on the walls. The officers reported them as markings of a criminal street gang.

Police believe the same apartment also was vandalized earlier this year, since one particular mark had "May 5" written with several nicknames and "SUR 13" above it. References to "skipping day" and the Norcross Blue Devils were also noted nearby, says the report.

Photos were taken, and items such as a metallic spray paint can, an ice cream container and a condom wrapper were processed for fingerprints. The photographs were sent to officials at Norcross High School to try to find a match with the nicknames, but so far the report hasn't listed any suspects.

This case is being compared to another report of vandalism in the same complex. The same gang-affiliated markings were discovered in the other apartment, and a similar ice cream container was found among other items.

A third round of graffiti was found in the complex's laundry room, too, which was reported Oct. 3. According to the report, the employee who found the damage that graffiti had been sprayed on the walls and on three of the washing machines, and a hole had been kicked in the wall. She informed police that the damage was probably done during the daytime because the laundry room is locked at night.
