Local Businesses Impacted by New Immigration Legislation

Gwinnett County officials announced new business license application procedures necessary for compliance with new immigration legislation. Applicants will no longer be able to apply for these renewals by mail.

Businesses in Gwinnett will soon begin feeling the effects of new immigration legislation. Renewals for occupation tax certificates (business licenses) are set to go out. However, before they can be renewed applicants now have to go through a few more steps to ensure they are in compliance with federal and state immigration laws. It also means that renewal applications can no longer by done by mail.

According to a press release from Gwinnett County, any person, corporation of LLC seeking any public benefit - such as an occupation tax certificate, alcohol license or contract - is required to submit a Systematic Alien Verification Entitlement (SAVE) affidavit and present a “secure and verifiable document” as approved by the state Attorney General. Examples of this verifiable document include a driver’s license, passport or legal immigrant documentation.

In addition, private employers with 500 or more employees seeking an initial or renewal occupation tax certificate are required to register for, and use, the E-verify program as well as sign an E-Verify affidavit. Private employers with less than 500 private employees have to prove by affidavit that they are not required to do so before they will be given an occupation tax certificate.

Renewal applications will be accepted in person at the License and Revenue Office, 446 West Crogan Street, in Lawrenceville from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or through License and Revenue’s new electronic renewal system, which can be accessed atwww.gwinnettlicrev.com.

“This new electronic system is an alternative to making an in-person visit to the License and Revenue Office and will hopefully reduce long wait times that we anticipate due to expected heavy walk-in traffic,” said Planning and Development Acting Director Bryan Lackey.

Officials said businesses would receive the E-verify affidavit, SAVE affidavit and occupation tax renewal form in the mail along with instructions on how to file these documents. Additional information is available at www.gwinnettlicrev.com or by calling (678) 377-4100.

Does Gingrich, Romney, Santorum or even Paul recognize the financial impact on all 50 states? Welfare benefits have slowed to American citizens, especially in Sanctuary States as California, Nevada and others, because of the financial support to people who have contempt for our laws.

The TEA PARTY does not alienate any race or nationality as the Liberal media would like you to think. It just requests the 1986 Immigration law (IRCA) enforced and not altered to pander to illegal migrants and immigrants.
