Blossom Spotlight: The Little Red Barn

Check out the artist sale during Blossom Tour weekend.

The artist sale may be called The Little Red Barn, but it doesn't take place inside anything resembling a farm.

Instead, you can find the sale in the front yard of the Historic Downtown home of Alice Van Veens, a Norcross native who restores old furniture into shabby chic and eclectic pieces.

The sale, which started at , features hundreds of one-of-a-kind items: vintage-style dressers and nightstands, colorful accessories, repurposed windows, ceramics, whimsical decorative pieces and more.

The first sale only had Van Veens and three other artists selling jewelry, home items and things inbetween, but they expanded when the second sale took place in November.

This time around, Van Veens and the gang decided to make an even larger comeback for Blossom 2012. Thirteen artists will be featured this weekend, and many of them are local or from the metro Atlanta area.

"One of the most gratifying things out of this is seeing young moms with kids having a real desire to do something creative," said Van Veens, adding that many of the sale's new items are Pinterest-inspired. "It's been very fun to see that."

Van Veens has teamed up with four artists from , including Deb Nail and her eclectic figurines; Lynn White of Chalk it Up Norcoss, which carries creative paints and waxes for furniture and home items; Greta Rowe, who teaches decorative painting and repurposes thrift store pieces; and Joanie Siegel, a painter specializing in dog portraits.

The Little Red Barn artist sale is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 473 N. Peachtree St. in Historic Norcross. Parking is available at and on the street.
