3 Arrested on Attempted Robbery Charges in Norcross Area
A SWAT team was called in when the suspects barricaded themselves in an Indian Trail Road apartment complex after the alleged robbery early Saturday.
Three suspects were arrested after an alleged attempted robbery was reported early Saturday at a Norcross-area apartment complex.
According to a Gwinnett County Police news release, Lilburn residents George Hernandez, 20; Mario Almaguer, 18; and a 16-year-old male had allegedly tried to rob a man around midnight.
After he resisted, the victim told police, the suspects barricaded themselves in a nearby apartment at 1355 Indian Trail Rd.
When authorities arrived, "Uniformed officers attempted to make contact with the suspects and resolve the situation," the news release says. "They were unsuccessful and the SWAT team was activated."
SWAT team negotiators addressed the suspects inside the apartment, and within 30 minutes all three men surrendered to officers without any further incidents.
Almaguer and Hernandez have been charged with criminal attempt to commit a crime, according to the Gwinnett County docket book. Almaguer also has been charged with violation of probation, burglary and three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges for the juvenile suspect were not available.
