FITNESS PIONEER BRINGING NEW CONCEPT TO NORCROSS
BRINGING NEW CONCEPT TO NORCROSS
The founder of a rapidly-growing fitness company is bringing a new club – and a new concept – to Norcross.
Rick Berks founded Youfit Health Clubs (www.youfithealthclubs.com) in 2008. He’s already got 42
clubs in Florida and Arizona. And his new concept is proving so successful that he’s opening his first club in Georgia, at 6000 Singleton Road in Norcross, at
the corner of Jimmy Carter Blvd. in Kroger Center.
What, exactly, is this new concept? No long-term contracts, for one thing (you pay by the month). No huge bodybuilders or gym rats. No singles scenes. No pressure to join (because there are no salespeople). No pushy instructors. And no carbon footprint. These, in fact, may be the “greenest” gyms in America - the floors are made of recycled tires or Nike “grind” (old sneakers!).
Youfit Health Clubs is for what Rick Berks calls “the rest of us.” These are clubs for people who aren’t going to enter body-building championships, and who aren’t there
to meet other singles. And the fees are probably the lowest you’ll ever see for a first-rate fitness club.
“We’re building clubs for people who don’t want to deal with the trauma and drama of the usual health club,” Berks says. “You wouldn’t believe how often I speak with people who actually believe they have to get in shape before they’ll feel comfortable walking in to a club.”
The “Youfit” name is meant to convey a very strong message. These are clubs where anyone can “fit” in, without feeling uncomfortable and without feeling pressure
from pushy salespeople. (Which is why most new clubs register a few thousand people within the first month!)
"We're really excited about our first club in Georgia,” Rick Berks says. “We’ll be getting people in Georgia off the couch. We’ll be creating new businesses here. And we’ll be creating them in a way that’s good to the environment.”
Berks is a successful entrepreneur with a colorful story, and he’s expanding his company across the country.
